Do the words below accurately describe the different feeling of people after listening to a deep and insightful message based on the Word of God:

Confused, Humble, In awe, Mesmerised, Blessed, Fulfilled, Excited to name a few!

Is it safe to assume that the response of people to the message is based on the following:

1.    Do they understand the message

2.    Does it meet current needs

3.    How they feel is the most suitable way to show thanks and gratitude’s

Could these drivers explain why we sometimes see people shouting, dancing, throwing money at the altar, falling down, standing up, sitting down as they reach a high level of fever pitch at the absence of any form of self-control.

The admiration and elevation of the deliverer of the message with the total ignorance of the source of the message.

This can be a potential trap for the speaker in terms of pride and for the congregation in terms of turning the speaker into an idol

We are advised in Revelation 22 v 8 – 9 on the importance of identifying and worshipping the source of insight from the Word of God. The angel of God gives us some useful insight on how we should respond:

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”

God is above people, ideas, goals, or possessions that occupy the central place of our lives. We should worship God alone not allowing anything to distract us. Even in our state of excitement, let us exercise a level of self-control to know that it is all about Him – Our Lord God Almighty.
