Our thinking should be facilitated by the Holy Spirit who will cause our thought patterns to align with that of the Almighty God

God loved us so much that he gave up his beloved son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. This makes us very special people in the eyes of our Father. The Chambers dictionary associates the following descriptions with being special:
1. Distinct from, and usually better than, others of the same or a similar kind; exceptional.
2. Designed for a particular purpose.
When we give our lives to Jesus, we are special as we are now destined for an eternal purpose in Christ. His favour and a host of other blessings are showered upon us as we delight in a loving relationship with him.
Relationships are an interactive process and after a period, there is a tendency for us to take ourselves for granted. Even in our relationship with God, we take him for granted as we periodically play the “grace card”. As highlighted at a recent leadership retreat I attended, grace can only take you so far and we need to recognise that we should take heed of our actions lest we fall.
The Israelites were the first set of special people chosen by God but some of them fell in the wilderness because they desired evil over holiness. We see some of the privileges they enjoyed in 1 Corinthians 10 v 1 – 5:
For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.
God loved and provided for them in the wilderness but some of them began to take God for granted in their actions which led to their demise as highlighted in 1 Corinthians 10 v 7 – 10:
Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.” We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. We should not test the Lord, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.
God loves us so much that the angels asked, “who is man that you are so mindful of him”. Even so, we need to observe the following:
1. Continue to watch our actions so that we do not fall
2. Do not take the grace of God for granted
3. The grace of God should make us love and desire the things of God even more knowing that if not for the grace……………….
