KUW Insights Podcast
I love insights that are based on the knowledge, understanding and wisdom sourced from the Word of God.These three parameters are what insights are all about as the Lord advocates that by wisdom a house is built; and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. We need to create time in our busy schedule to slow down and ponder over the finer things of life. Our thinking should be facilitated by the Holy Spirit who will cause our thought patterns to align with that of the Almighty God

Welcome to the KUW Insight Podcast. Today’s insight is titled You Forgot to say My Title written by Ade Ojomo and read by Tinuke Akinbulumo:

- Are you concerned over whether you are addressed with your title or not?
Bishop, Pastor, Deacon, Director, Engineer, Apostle, Lawyer, and Architect, to name a few, are titles given to individuals based on their profession. From country to country, there are differences in opinion on whether the usage of certain titles are legitimate or self-imposed for recognition.
The dictionary defines ‘title’ as follows:
A formal appellation attached to the name of a person or family by virtue of office, rank, hereditary privilege, noble birth, or attainment or used as a mark of respect.
Question:
Is this the case with most of the titles defined in society; can they be associated with respect?
I leave the answer to you, but will contribute my bit by highlighting that the word “title” is a descriptive word that does not define the character of the individual to which it is attached.
The Bible, in Matthew 7 verse 16, gives us an insight into why a title is not sufficient to describe an individual:
“You will fully recognise them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?”
We should focus on developing our character to define who we are, and not lose sleep about whether we are addressed by our titles or not. Also remember the following:
- A ‘title’ does not define who you are.
- A ‘title’ does not determine your character.
- The only ‘title’ we should strive for is that based on servant leadership.
