KUW Insights Podcast
I love insights that are based on the knowledge, understanding and wisdom sourced from the Word of God.These three parameters are what insights are all about as the Lord advocates that by wisdom a house is built; and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. We need to create time in our busy schedule to slow down and ponder over the finer things of life. Our thinking should be facilitated by the Holy Spirit who will cause our thought patterns to align with that of the Almighty God

At a recent leadership retreat, I was involved in a discussion highlighting the fact that we often hear the same messages periodically; if this is the case, why do we find it so difficult to apply the lessons in our lives?
In my contribution to the debate, I pointed out that we spend too much time analysing the “why” rather than focusing on the “how” in terms of implementation on an incremental basis until we perfect what we are trying to learn.
I further highlighted that time waits for no one and we need to at least take the first step as reinforced by a quote by Confucius that “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.
Another contributor reiterated that because we are in a battle, each new day is a fresh challenge and that the enemy we are fighting does not take any “tea-break”. This reinforces the need for total dependence on the Holy Spirit for guidance through the Word of God. In my opinion, this process of depending on his strength and power also requires a high level of discipline and diligence to facilitate effective application.
Having God centred goals and objectives that are important and align with our purpose for existence can be effective drivers to help us focus on taking the “single steps” to complete the journey. A similar advice is given in 1 Corinthians 9 v 24 – 27:
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
In conclusion, the retreat ending with three take away points to apply in all the aspects of our lives:
1) Revisit our foundations for existence
2) Align our motives with God
3) Effective planning to accomplish all what God has in store for us
