Welcome to the KUW Insight Podcast. Today’s insight is titled Be Real written by Ade Ojomo and read by Tinuke Akinbulumo:

1.    Who are you?

2.    What do people say about you?

3.    Do you care what people say about you?

In life, there is usually someone you look up to, be it a pastor, musician, actor, or your own father. By the same token, there is someone looking up to you in terms of guidance and instruction on how to travel through the maze of life.

This can sometimes put pressure on us to conform to a certain persona in order to impress people, knowing we are being observed like a laboratory specimen. At the expense of our so called ‘faults’ being discovered, we try every means to cover them up,  rather than being authentic and accepting that life is a process of discovery and repentance.

This approach of image protection at all costs can lead people astray, as they never discover the real you and when they do, they end up being disappointed, hurt and eventually led astray, as they lose faith in people. In reality, our faith should be in God as he never disappoints but we should not ignore the fact that we are being observed daily.

The impact of the message above can be seen in Galatians 2 v 11 – 13:

When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

The Bible says that only the truth will set us free and reminds us that:

1.    Our true identity is in Christ

2.    In Him we must truly live and have our identity

3.    Christ is the Solid Rock upon which we must set our foundation
