The other day, I sat down to watch the film, Transformer with my daughters. I had heard about this film before and wondered what all the fuss was about. My opinion changed after watching how the plot unfolded from scene to scene.

The story line was based on the ability of robots to change into different mechanical objects as they seek the key to ultimate power.

It is a bit like what we are trying to achieve as Christians, the power to represent Christ as ambassadors of Christ amidst the chaos here on Earth. From day to day, our minds are being renewed so we are transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. In other words, we are being reformed and regenerated daily

The Chambers Dictionary defines the term ‘regeneration’ as having been regenerated, especially in having improved morally, spiritually, or physically.

As I reflected on these terms, I began to think about the younger generation and the transformation process they must go through. They live in a society that differs quite a lot from what we experienced. What legacy are we prepared to leave for them that has a lasting impact on their lives.

Many of the young men today are being brought up in families where fathers have neglected their responsibilities to their wives and children. As the transformation process continues, let us remember the advice that we are given in Titus 2 v 6 – 8 on being good role models:

Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

If we want the younger generation to act in godly ways, consider the following actions:

1.    Embrace a culture of godliness

2.    Reflect the image of Christ in your words, thoughts, and deeds

3.    Earn the right to be heard and let our lives reinforce what we teach
